The Revise & Shine Retainer The All-the-Things Retainer Project Work Editing for Authors & Writers

Ongoing Support

Retainer Plans

If content is a regular part of your business (and it regularly gets pushed down the list), a retainer gives you a set amount of time each month with someone who already knows your voice, your standards, and how you like things done.

Tier 1

The Revise & Shine Retainer

“I keep falling behind on content, and it’s always the thing that slips.”

A little extra editorial horsepower, on a regular basis, without the overhead of a full-time hire. Give me content that’s piling up, and I’ll help you get it done.

From $500/month
Billed monthly · 3-month minimum

Good for solopreneurs and small business owners with a steady stream of content but not enough of it to justify a full-time editor.

Use your hours for newsletters, social posts, blog content, proofreading, light formatting, or the deck/document that suddenly needs to be ready tomorrow. I’ll keep an eye on the details, maintain your templates (and standards), and help make sure things don’t get stuck in a queue.

What’s included

  • Defined number of hours each month
  • Editing: copy, line, and proofreading
  • Light formatting (documents, social, newsletters)
  • Template maintenance and brand consistency
  • Monthly strategy call
  • Priority turnaround
  • AI-draft cleanup and refinement

Tier 2

The All-the-Things Retainer

“I need someone to take over the entire content process, but I just can’t hire anyone full-time.”

A fractional content lead who can keep the whole thing moving—from the quality of the writing to what gets published, when, and where. Give me the entire content operation, and I’ll help run it.

From $1,250/month
Billed monthly · 3-month minimum

Good for business owners and small teams with a steady flow of content across multiple channels. This is the full four-pillar setup: editing, formatting, publishing, and content management, with writer coordination, editorial workflows, and CMS oversight built in.

You don’t have to manage every writer, chase every draft, remember every publishing deadline, or wonder whether the latest version actually made it to the website. I can keep those pieces moving and flag what needs your attention.

A note about the robots

I use AI and other modern tools where they save time. But the judgment is still mine: what stays, what goes, what actually sounds and looks like you. If you use AI to draft, that’s fine. I’ll make sure the finished work doesn’t read like it came straight out of a chatbot. That’s the part worth paying a human for and the part that many companies are skipping.

For Authors

Bring Me Your Work

Your writing needs more than a spell-check. Depending on where you are in the process, you might need someone to see the big-picture problems, untangle a stubborn chapter, tighten the prose, or catch the tiny things that are easy to miss after you’ve read the same paragraph a hundred times. That’s where I come in.

I have experience editing full-length manuscripts, but if you’re working on something shorter—a short story, an essay, a community newsletter? I do that too.

Rush turnaround may be available for an additional 50%. Ask about current availability during your consultation.

Fiction & Nonfiction

Editing for Authors & Writers

From rough draft to submission-ready, with the level of editing your work actually needs.

Per project / per word
Minimum project fee: $100

Fiction, nonfiction, long or short—if it needs an editor, you’re in the right place. Novels, memoir, short stories, essays, novellas, and anything else that doesn’t fit neatly into a category. I’ve edited 19 full-length manuscripts across mystery, crime, fantasy, romance, historical fiction, and memoir, primarily for adult readers with some YA and middle-grade work. Two of those sold to Hollywood studios.

Rates follow Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) guidelines and vary by service and manuscript length. Shorter projects are welcome, too: short stories, novellas, essays, and other works that don’t fit neatly into a category.

Every project starts with a consultation and sample edit so we can figure out what your work needs before we decide how to approach it.
